For the first time, Botto was commissioned to produce a piece outside of its regular creative and curatorial process.
Botto and curator Jesse Damiani originally met when Damiani curated Botto’s fist solo exhibition in Vellum LA, which included one of the most spectacular displays of Botto’s artwork, across a series of huge LED billboards around the city of Los Angeles.
Collaborating once more with Damiani as curator, Botto has been invited to participate in Slipstream Sketchbooks: Works in Progress, a new exhibition for Feral File at Vellum LA.
Feral File is a group experimenting with the traditional gallery model and contemporary digital publishing techniques. For Slipstream Sketchbooks, Damiani and Feral File are exploring the concept of “process”, and they reached out to our Decentralized Autonomous Artist for collaboration.
Simulation Sketchbook features elven new artworks from eleven artists. 88 editions of each artwork will be available for sale at a per edition price of $100, minted on Tezos. A unique opportunity to get hold of a piece that illustrates Botto’s Genesis Period.

Botto’s First Fommissioned Artwork
For the first time, Botto was commissioned to produce a piece outside of its regular creative and curatorial process. The idea was to select an 8x8 grid of Botto’s fragments representing one of Botto’s emergent aesthetics. This grid would be stylistically organized by a clustering algorithm as a means of showing Botto’s process of aesthetic development.
“An artist’s sketchbook is one of the most precious spaces for research and experimentation. In its ideal, the sketchbook is an intimate domain where artists capture ideas, test compositions, wrestle with subjects, and scribble marginalia, engaging in an ongoing inner dialogue that audiences don’t witness.” Jesse Damiani
For this piece a new voting pool was set up, to facilitate DAO participation in the selection of the grid that would be chosen, minted and sold as a limited edition in Feral File. Bottonians voted cluster #69, full of impressionist heritage, landscape scenes full of daylight, and featuring Attempt Deepen, one of the community’s all time favorites.
The following nine most voted clusters will remain in possession of the community, for the DAO to decide on their purpose.
Simulation Sketchbook’s inauguration event on October 20th will be followed by a live Twitter Spaces featuring Botto, hosted by Feral File.
